Jake M. i remember this day very well. i walked down after my shift at the bloor. it had been weeks since i had seen everybody. i knew i needed to be here for this album release. little did i know just how important this album would go on to be for me...

thank you to the horse museum for creating such beautiful and sweet music. thank you for jordaan for asking tough questions and giving a voice to voiceless people.

happy 10 year anniversary, divorce lawyers! Favorite track: wild dogs: divorce!.

worst dreams ever These songs performed live are as emotional as the studio recordings, if not more. The echo of the church creates an interesting atmosphere, especially since divorce lawyers feels pretty dense and cramped.
The museum's performance of "_____ is water" is particularly emphatic here when compared to the album version. Favorite track: _____ is water.

released June 6, 2019

on june 6, 2009, jordaan mason and the horse museum held a concert at st. george the martyr church in toronto, which at the time was the home of the music gallery, to celebrate the release of our album, 'divorce lawyers i shaved my head,' which we had been recording since 2007. the horse museum was an ever-shifting ensemble of friends and lovers, and this was the largest we ever were as a live act, with many friends travelling from far away to join in on the performance (thanks for making the journey!). hamilton trading company and nich worby performed opening sets (go hunt down their stuff, they are wonderful), and the room was filled with family and friends who came out to celebrate and support (our hearts are still so full of gratitude for the outpouring of love and support we received from our community when we were making this album and when we performed these songs, especially on this night). we performed an abbreviated version of the album with minimal amplification on our instruments and none on our voices, as we preferred to do, and the set was recorded to a handheld device from the audience by steve goetz, who backs up everything it seems so this was discovered years later (thanks steve!). jordaan edited the files to remove most of the between-song banter (we'll keep that between us & the folks who were there that night) and then matt ross mastered the files (thanks matt!). the cover photograph was taken prior to the performance in the green room of the church by tara fillion (thanks tara!).
